Description
Total eclipse of the sun as seen from Georgetown Beach in South Carolina. The total solar eclipse lasted a little over a minute and a half. Just as the solar eclipse went total there was a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder from a near by thunderstorm. Birds took off in flight, crickets began to chirp and the crowds of people gathered at Morgan Park cheered.
The image shows the diamond phenomena and solar prominences. A prominence is a large, bright, gaseous feature extending outward from the Sun's surface, often in a loop shape. The bright diamond looking light created a little lens flare I like to call diamond dust.
