A Ruby-throated Hummingbird hovers near a tall stemmed Cardinal Flower, attracted by the red flowers it is a favorite summer dinning location. Image was captured at Green Spring Garden. The garden is located in the Linconia area of Fairfax County Virginia.

Thanks William for the WOWIE honor. It is very much appreciated. Love the challenge of capturing hummingbirds. In this case patience and luck gave me the opportunity to get this capture. Usually try to keep the shutter speed around 2000 to freeze everything except for a little motion blur on the wings, which I prefer. In this case due to lighting I shot at 1600. F 6.3 and an ISO of 640.
